The Liquid Charm of the Serenissima: Venice Celebrates Five Years of a Dream Cocktail Week (Signed by Paola Mencarelli)

There is a way of storytelling that passes through the beauty of places, and there is a way that flows through taste, research, and innovation. When these elements merge in a magical city like Venice, the result is nothing short of extraordinary. From October 21st to 25th, 2026, the Serenissima will once again don its most elegant and contemporary attire for the fifth anniversary edition of Venice Cocktail Week.

Five years (2021-2026) marks a significant milestone. It is not just the success of an event, but the consecration of a vision. And if Venice has truly become an international beacon for signature mixology, the credit goes above all to one person: Paola Mencarelli.

With her trademark determination, grace, and rare ability to weave networks of excellence, Paola has taken a global concept like the “Cocktail Week” and tailored it to Venice like an haute couture gown. This is an independent project that respects the city, enhances it, and elevates its most authentic soul. As Fabrizio D’Oria, General Manager of Vela spa, warmly pointed out, this festival has built a solid professional ecosystem, bringing organizational quality and growing without placing a burden on the fragile Venetian urban fabric.

A Strategic Five-Day Itinerary Through History and Hospitality

Following the successful format introduced in 2025, Venice Cocktail Week 2026 confirms its condensed five-day formula. A strategic choice by Paola Mencarelli to create a more concentrated, intense, and seamless experience for enthusiasts, professionals, and travelers arriving in the Lagoon.

The beating heart of the event remains the journey: a liquid itinerary winding through the finest Hotel Bars and independent Cocktail Bars. Each selected venue will present an exclusive VCW26 Drink List featuring three custom creations designed by resident bartenders to mirror the evolution of contemporary drinking:

  1. The Signature Cocktail VCW26, a masterpiece of free creativity.

  2. The Aperitivo di Mezzogiorno (Midday Aperitif), a fresh, light, Low ABV or Alcohol-Free drink, perfectly paired with a traditional cicchetto to honor the great Venetian midday ritual.

  3. A Classic Cocktail VCW26, a refined reinterpretation of mixology history.

At the center of it all stands a clear philosophy: the promotion of Conscious and Responsible Drinking, where quality, sustainability, and the culture of the sip matter infinitely more than quantity.

A Dialogue Between Territories, Art, and Fine Dining

This year, the resident bartenders truly take center stage with the Barkeeper initiative—dedicated moments allowing guests to discover the faces and stories behind the counter. The local scene will also engage in a vibrant dialogue with guest bars, as Pop-Up Bars from VCW’s sister events (Florence, Tuscany, Cortina, and the Amalfi Coast) arrive in the Serenissima to share styles and trends.

True to its cultural nature, the event blends mixology with art and photography. The bartenders’ souls are captured in intense portraits by acclaimed photographer Veronica Gaido, while the atmospheric beauty of the Signature Cocktails is immortalized by renowned food & drink photographer Michele Tamasco.

Meanwhile, the sensory experience moves from the glass to the plate. The highly anticipated Dining with the Spirits and Pastry with the Spirits initiatives return, challenging Venetian chefs and pastry chefs to use spirits as premium ingredients in their menus and dedicated gourmet evenings.

A Chromatic Tribute to Venice’s Hidden Roots

Even the design of Venice Cocktail Week tells a story of deep love for the lagoon. The iconic logo—originally designed by Piero Lissoni, featuring a Martini glass elegantly morphing into a gondola (conceived by Marino Lucchetti of LPV Bar)—evolves for this fifth anniversary.

To mark the “wooden anniversary,” the historic Brocade Red (a tribute to Venetian textile tradition) is joined by two new shades: Champagne Gold and Antique Oak. The latter is a poetic nod to the ancient oak, alder, and larch piles that have silently supported the grand palaces of the Canal Grande from the depths below for centuries.

It is the perfect metaphor for Paola Mencarelli’s work: an invisible, solid foundation of quality, passion, and relationships that keeps the beauty of this event standing tall. Pack your bags; Venice in October is ready to be sipped.
